Tony Khan Says Matt Hardy Doesn’t Have A Concussion Following All Out, Will Appear On Dynamite

Great news for Matt Hardy following AEW All Out.

The big news coming out of AEW All Out 2020 was the concussion-scare suffered by Matt Hardy during his brief “Broken Rules” match with Sammy Guevara. Early on in the match, Hardy took a spear from Guevara from high on a scissor lift and Matt Hardy fell crashing and was supposed to land on a table but almost entirely cleared it, hitting his head on the concrete.

Immediately, Matt began to show signs of a concussion, and the match was stopped immediately before awkwardly restarting and cutting immediately to the finish which would see both men climbing scaffolding before Sammy Guevara would go crashing through the stage, allowing Matt Hardy to be declared the winner when Guevara couldn’t answer a 10-count.

Matt’s wife, Reby Hardy was openly incensed by the happenings and earlier today said that Matt was still in the hospital with a concussion. Now, Tony Khan has provided another update on Twitter and it paints a much more optimistic picture for Matt Hardy.

On the post-show media call, Tony Khan defended his decision to let Matt Hardy continue to compete after conferring with Dr. Sampson.

“The doctor did clear him. Matt did not pressure him and Dr. Sampson would not be pressured into clearing anybody,” said Tony. “He’s pulled people from our shows without hesitation, whether it’s been over something with a blood test or with an injury. He’s really strict about that stuff and that’s why when people have had injuries that he didn’t feel comfortable about, people do in physicality or wrestling with, we never put those people out there. So I never would have gone against the doctor’s decision and most importantly, Matt would not have been able to overrule the doctor’s decision and not with the doctor himself or with me. So that is what happened. The doctor cleared him, which is the first and foremost important thing. Matt also did want to continue, but the doctor cleared him. So at that point when the doctor cleared him to continue, Matt clearly wanted to continue. That’s why we continued.”

With the promise that Matt Hardy will be at the next episode of Dynamite and his victory at All Out securing his career in AEW, this will hopefully be the beginning of brighter days and better health for the veteran.

Fightful will continue to monitor the story and report any and all updates.
