Tony Khan Reveals Christian Cage Called Him First, Wants To Wrestle On A Regular Basis In AEW

Tony Khan details how he was able to sign Christian Cage.

After nearly a decade of not competing inside of a professional wrestling ring, Christian returned at the 2021 Royal Rumble event and was able to help his best friend, Edge, achieve his dream and punch his ticket to WrestleMania. However, fast forward less than two months from that moment, and Christian Cage is now signed with All Elite Wrestling.

When asked how everything came together during a media call after the pay-per-view, Tony Khan revealed that it was Christian, desiring to compete on a more regular basis, who made the first contact and Tony was more than happy to get him on board.

“I met Christian Cage seven years ago and he’s a great person and I’ve always really liked him as a person but long before that, I’ve been a huge fan of him as a wrestler. I think he’s one of the great wrestlers the last couple of decades. He’s had great matches in different companies, he’s been a great singles wrestler, a great tag champion, and I think he’s one of the best minds in wrestling.

“He’s in great physical condition and we saw him very recently compete on pay-per-view. There was a lot of interest in it, it generated a lot of interest, and he was interested in wrestling on a regular basis and you know he gave me a call and said, ‘I’d really like to come wrestle in AEW for you,’ and I said, ‘I’d really like to have you come and wrestle for me.’ It all came together great and I think it’s going to be really good.”

Christian Cage did not speak during his debut, he merely signed the contract in the ring and walked to the back. If you missed any of the action from AEW Revolution, you can catch up with our live coverage at this link.
