Stephanie McMahon Talks About Struggles With Self-Love, What Motherhood Taught Her About Self-Esteem
Stephanie McMahon opens up about struggling with self-love.
Stephanie McMahon may be the chief brand officer of WWE, with that title comes a lot of responsibility in an industry that has always been mostly run by men.
On television, Stephanie McMahon plays a very strong, very secure, and oftentimes villainous character, but she is still human and is sharing some of her internal struggles in a new interview.
Speaking with Cosmopolitan Middle East, Stephanie, when asked why she thinks women struggle with self-esteem, stated that her daughters have taught her that most people are born loving themselves and that oftentimes, self-doubt comes from outside factors as people get older.
“The shocking thing about self-esteem is that we are not born that way. I have three little girls and through them, I have understood that most of us are born full of ourselves. We are born with big, loud personalities but as we start to get older, there is a shift in our personality where we second guess ourselves. I can be terribly insecure and second-guess everything to a point where it is detrimental. But I realized that it’s not the best way for me.”
Stephanie then shared her own issues with self-doubt and self-love, revealing that it was brought to her attention only a few years ago that she would benefit from learning to love herself more.
“I have struggled with my self-love and it came to my attention a few years ago. A coach told me that I needed to work on loving myself and I said, ‘Of course I love myself. I have no problem with that.’ Then as I started doing the deep work, I realized that loving myself should not be this hard.
“The first step to me is being proud of myself and my achievements. Instead of always thinking about what more I could do, I give myself credit for how far I have come. One of the things I do daily is working out. If I can get some type of physical exercise every day, that is a form of self-love for me.”
Right now, Stephanie and WWE are solely focused on WrestleMania 37 and the return of the WWE Universe to live events. WrestleMania is slated to have up to 25,000 people per night when they take over Raymond James Stadium during the second weekend of April for their biggest event of the year. Learn more here.
