Chelsea Green Believes She And Sonya Deville Are Already Elevating The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

Chelsea Green talks elevating the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles alongside Sonya Deville.

Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the July 17 episode of Monday Night Raw. This kick-started the 22nd overall title reign since these championships were reinstated back in 2019. Chelsea and Sonya also became the third team to hold the titles in the span of the month, leading to some questions regarding the fragility of the division.

Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com, Green says that she believes she and Deville have already elevated the status of the championship belts in the five-plus days since capturing the titles.

“Honestly, we’re already doing it,” Green said when asked how she and Deville would elevate the titles. “Look at the way we look. Look at what we bring to the table. Star power. Period. All these other teams, they go out there, they’re mismatching. We come prepared, and we came prepared day one. One of our first tag matches ever is at WrestleMania. Who else can say that? I just feel like we come with more history and more backstory, and the element of being prepared.”

Chelsea and Sonya do have a history dating back to the 2015 season of Tough Enough, where even though neither one of them won the season, and kick-started their long-term journey to WWE Superstardom.

Chelsea Green being one-half of the Tag Team Champions means her husband, Matt Cardona, is now one-half of one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Cardona celebrated his newfound status by wearing a replica version of this championship belt while competing in Japan for DDT Pro Wrestling. Learn more here
