Report: Bill Algeo Replaces Ryan Hall vs. Ricardo Lamas At UFC Vegas 8
Ricardo Lamas needed a new opponent for UFC Vegas 8 after the withdrawal of Ryan Hall and now he has one.
Bill Algeo has accepted a short notice spot against Lamas at UFC Vegas 8. Algeo will step in for grappling ace Hall. The UFC Gym Naperville Page first reported the news.
Lamas (19-8-0) has won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Darren Elkins at UFC Fight Night Buenos Aires. Lamas hasn’t picked up a victory in well over a year, as the win over the previously mentioned Elkins came back in May of 2018. Lamas has suffered eight losses as a professional MMA fighter, but he has yet to be beaten by way of submission.
Algeo (13-4-0) is making his UFC debut in this fight and the fighter does so having won five of his last six fights. Algeo competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 1, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Brendan Loughnane. Algeo has competed seventeen times as a professional MMA fighter and six of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Vegas 8 is set for Saturday, August 29 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Anthony Smith and Aleksander Rakic headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
