Report: Joseph Benavidez vs. Dustin Ortiz II Added To UFC Fight Night Brooklyn
A flyweight division rematch has been added to UFC Fight Night Brooklyn according to Newsday as Joseph Benavidez will again battle Dustin Ortiz.
Benavidez (26-5-0) won the initial bout between himself and Ortiz, with that win coming by way of unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 57. Benavidez has twice before challenged for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing both times to then champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC 152 and UFC On Fox 9. Benavidez also holds a decision win over Henry Cejudo, who is the reigning UFC Flyweight Champion.
Ortiz (19-7-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Hector Sandoval, Alexandre Pantoja and Matheus Nicolau. Ortiz hasn’t suffered a defeat in well over a year, with that last loss coming at UFC Fight Night 108 in April of 2017. Ortiz has suffered seven losses as a professional MMA fighter, but he has yet to be defeated by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
