Colby Covington Blasts Nike For Colin Kaepernick Deal
Nike recently revealed that they have signed former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to a deal for the 30th anniversary of their “Just Do It” campaign.
The move has been a controversial one in many peoples eyes, even leading to some burning their Nike gear in response. The new ad featuring Kaepernick is expected to debut nationwide during the Philadelphia Eagles versus Atlanta Falcon regular season game, which is set for tonight.
UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington is never one to stay away from controversy and he posted the following on the matter via Twitter:
I grew up in Oregon and was around @Nike my whole life. It’s funny watching a company that uses child slave labor overseas to make their products all of a sudden become humanitarians. #PatTillman is an NFL/American Hero. @Kaepernick7 is just a spineless sack of shit. #NikeBoycott

It is highly unlikely that the deal affects the UFC or its fighters in any financial or professional way, since the promotion has an exclusive deal with Reebok, a rival of Nike.
Covington himself has been out of action since winning the interim welterweight title with a decision win over former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 225.
