Report: Bethe Correia Faces Irene Aldana At UFC 227
A women’s bantamweight division attraction is the latest addition to the UFC 227 card according to MMA Brasil as #10 Bethe Correia faces #11 Irene Aldana.
Correia (10-3-1) has won just one of her last five fights under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Jessica Eye at UFC 203. Correia has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 190. Correia also returns to action for the first time in over a year after deal with a series of eye injuries and surgeries.
Aldana (8-4-0) is looking to build momentum after gaining her first UFC victory, which came over Talita Bernardo at UFC Fight Night St. Louis. Aldana had previously competed in the Invicta FC promotion, picking up victories over a pair of UFC veterans in Jessamyn Duke and Peggy Morgan. Aldana had challenged for the Invicta FC Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Tonya Evinger at Invicta FC 13.
UFC 227 takes place on Saturday, August 4 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
