EARLY PRELIMS

Yancy Medeiros vs. Sean Spencer

Round 1: Both men begin the fight by feeling each other out, not throwing any risky strikes. Spencer is trying to go for a big right hand times, moving in closer and hits a decent strike but nothing more. Spencer hits a good right hand strike but doesn’t capitalize. Medeiros with a spinning back fist, but he misses. Both men start throwing a few more punches but aren’t connecting until Medeiros stuns Spencer and tries to end the fight but Spencer gets back up. Spencer now is going for some kicks and knees and the round ends with both men exchanging punches.

Fightful scores round 1 for Spencer 10-9

Round 2: Medeiros kicks Spencer and stuns him and then immediately goes for the rear naked choke and Spencer taps.

Official result: Yancy Medeiros defeated Sean Spencer by submission (rear naked choke), Round 2, 0:49

That was a great kick and submission to end the fight.

PRELIMS

Drew Dober vs. Jason Gonzalez

Round 1: Dober lands a left hand early, moving forward. He keeps going with low kicks on Gonzalez. Dober stays aggressive and lands a good right hook upstairs. Gonzalez then responds back with some strikes of his own. Gonzalez defends on the fence, eats some more punches. Dober lands another leg kick and then one on Gonzalez’s groin. Gonzalez takes some time to recover before they continue. Dober then explodes for a big flurry of punches and knocks Gonzalez out to end the fight.

Official result: Drew Dober defeated Jason Gonzalez via KO, Round 1, 1:45

Nik Lentz vs. Michael McBride

Round 1:  Lentz lands a series of hard right hands early, then blasts McBride with a knee when he tries a takedown. Lentz pulls guard for a guillotine, loses it, and a scramble ensues. Lentz ragdolls him with a suplex, looking for the back. Lentz all over McBride, who missed weight badly. McBride rolls for a leg, Lentz patiently works his foot free. Lentz now goes into a half guard. Lentz is now dropping punches as he looks for the back. McBride turns into him and Lentz looks for the front headlock. He falls back for a guillotine but stays on top when he loses it. McBride going hard for a takedown, eating punches as Lentz rides his back. Lentz keeps dominating as the round ends.

Fightful scores round 1 for Lentz 10-9

Round 2:  McBride throws some strikes, but they do not look like they are being overly effective. Lentz is on the advance, but eats a right hand and comes back with a combination of punches. McBride then drops him with a right hook and takes the back. Lentz slips out and looks for a guillotine when McBride shoots. Lentz drops the grip, gets his hips under him, and slips out, taking the back as he does. McBride rolls right as Lentz locks up the rear naked choke, so Lentz then threatens an arm triangle. Lentz has been dominating these grappling exchanges. Lentz looks for another arm-triangle. McBride avoids the back crucifix and Lentz then establishes the half guard. Lentz is on the attack while on top. He keeps on punching and, despite McBride giving a thumbs-up instead of protecting his head, the referee steps in and calls it.

Caio Magalhaes vs. Brad Tavares

Round 1: Low kick from Tavares wins, Magalhaes checks it. One minute in. Magalhaes looks for a single-leg, can’t keep Tavares down. Magalhaes holding him against the fence, attached to a leg. Magalhaes ultimately abandons it with about two minutes to go. Both fighters throw right hands and Magalhaes locks up first, but Tavares reverses the position. They jockey for position. Tavares tries to separate, and digs a right to the body. Magalhaes lugs him right back. Knees from both men and the round ends. Not a lot of action in this round.

Round 2: Both swing to start the round. Magalhaes tossing out kicks. Body kick lands for him. Another exchange, right hand by Tavares lands on Magalhaes. Magalhaes ducks a right hand and ties up on the fence. Tavares reverses position. Tavares with some knees to the thigh before they separate. Tavares low kick. Tavares on the advance, eats a nasty body kick.Tavares low kick, both sling right hands. Body kick lands for him. Magalhaes lands a low kick. Hard counter right from Tavares as they trade blows. Magalhaes shoots in response and Tavares defends. Magalhaes driving through as Tavares tries to cinch up a front headlock. Magalhaes completes the single-leg but can’t keep him down and Tavares clinches him until the bell.

Fightful scores round 2 for Tavares 10-9

Round 3: The two clinch and remain locked up for a long while. Magalhaes is taken down and tries to go for a guillotine choke but is unable to lock it in. The two men keep clinching. Tavares works his head free and goes back to working in the clinch on the feet. Good left hook as they separate. Low kick lands afterwards. Tavares hits a right hand and he tries a flying knee. Tavares easily stuffs a shot and pressures forward. Body kick lands for Tavares. Counter right catches the Brazilian clean. Tavares controlling the fight at range. Magalhaes slips in a left hook. Right hand from Tavares off a whiffed flying knee. Magalhaes rebuffed once again on a takedown and eats a front kick. Tavares much, much fresher as he picks at Magalhaes. He tries one more knee and lands a cracking right at the bell.

Official result: Brad Tavares defeated Caio Magalhaes via split decision (29-28, 30-27, 28-29)

Jessica Eye vs. Bethe Correia

Round 1: Hard right hand by Eye to start. She’s on the front foot. Counter left from Correia. Another right strike by Eye. Correia low kicks. Eye answers with strikes of her, followed by good right from Correia. Counter right lands on Eye now. Correia lands a counter left. Eye catches a kick and briefly trips Correia up. They clinch on the fence, Eye on the outside, before quickly separating. Correia grabs a body lock and puts her on the fence. Left by Correia at the end of the bell.

Fightful scores round 1 for Eye 10-9

Round 2: Not a whole lot of action in the first minute. Low kick from Correia. Good exchange for the Brazilian. Fairly slow second round, all things considered. Correia landing more accurately. Quick exchange in the center. Correia eats a punch and claims an eye poke, referee says fight on. Counter uppercut lands for Eye. Another hard right hand by the local favorite. Eye with a body kick. Combination by Eye. Right hand by Correia, body kick by Eye. Correia shoots, stuffed. Eye avoids another level change, eats a leg kick. Right hands by Eye before the bell.

Fightful scores round 2 for Eye 10-9

Round 3: Low kick exchange between the two. Some feinting at range, no clean punches. Quick exchange then ensues. Good counter right from Correia. Counter rights from Eye. Good exchange and Eye connects and draws a smile from Correia. Correia then hits a low kick. Good right hand connects. Lots of circling, not any action. Left hooks from Correia. Eye really not doing much besides retreating. Correia ties up on the fence and they trade knees.

Fightful scores round 3 for Correia 10-9, making it 29-28 for Eye

MAIN CARD

Jessica Andrade vs. Joanne Calderwood

Round 1: Calderwood throws some body kicks to start the fight. Andrade closes in and throws few punches. They clinch and Andrade hits a few knees to Calderwood. Calderwood gets some good strikes in and cuts open Andrade. Andrade hits a big suplex to Calderwood and Andrade is on top. The fight continues and Andrade slams Calderwood to the mat again and Andrade is on top. Calderwood is on guard, but Andrade is still trying for the ground-and-pound offense. Calderwood tries to get up, but Andrade connects on a big Guillotine choke and Calderwood taps.

Official result: Jessica Andrade defeated Joanne Calderwood via submission (guillotine choke), Round 1, 4:38

 

Urijah Faber vs. Jimmie Rivera

Round 1: Faber goes for a punch, misses and Rivera connects on a swift right hand and momentarily gets stunned. Rivera keeps going for more punches while Faber is looking for an opening. Every time Faber throws a punch, he overthrows the punch and Rivera tries to take advantage of a very small window of opportunity. The two exchange punches briefly. Low kick from Rivera and the round ends with the two of them throwing a couple of punches.

Fightful scores round 1 for Rivera 10-9

Round 2: Rivera gets hit in the groin by Faber and Faber gets a warning. Faber becomes more aggressive in this fight, throwing more punches in this round. Rivera hits Faber in the chin and staggers him to the ground, but Rivera does not do anything to capitalize. Rivera hits a low kick and Faber is now in the center. The two exchange a few more punches with each other. Rivera goes for a spinning back kick and misses and the round ends.

Fightful scores round 2 for Rivera 10-9

Round 3: Faber goes for a few overhead punches and misses. Rivera goes for a low kick, but Faber catches it. Both men are in the center and boxing until Faber hits an open hand to Rivera and pokes him in the right eye. The fight is paused and Rivera’s eye is being checked out by the doctor. Fight resumes and Rivera hits a great one-two punch combination. Faber responds with a leg kick. Both men are still boxing, but trying to look for an opening. They try to clinch and Rivera tries to slam Faber to the mat, but is unsuccessful. Rivera lands a good left hand to Faber. The round ends with Rivera swinging for the fences.

Fightful scores round 3 for Rivera 10-9, making it 30-27 for Rivera

CM Punk vs. Mickey Gall

Round 1: Gall immediately takes down Punk and hits some really good punches. Gall then proceeds to beat up Punk viciously while trying to go for a guillotine choke. He eventually locks in a rear naked choke and Punk submits.

Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne

Round 1: Werdum hits a flying side kick to start the fight and hits Browne, stunning him and Browne tries to take a break after his glove is misplaced or something in that regard and Werdum tries to go for a sucker punch. The fight is paused. Browne is clinched to the cage and Werdum hits some strikes, including a big overhand punch and eventually Browne is taken to the ground. Werdum keeps with the offense and tries to go for a rear naked show, but could not lock it in. He then proceeds to punch him until the round ends.

Round 2: Browne opens with a right hand, stuffs a low single. Wheel kick from Werdum blocked. Werdum goes for a low kick. Not nearly as much volume from Werdum thus far this round. Body kick blocked. Werdum with front kicks to the body. Werdum eats a body kick, lands one in return. Hesitant spinning back fist by Werdum. Left hook downstairs, Browne answers in kind and eats a low kick. Werdum lands a low kick. Tossing out lead leg kicks. Browne lands a lead left hook. Good low kicks from both guys. Werdum goes for a Rolling thunder and a wheel kick before the bell. 

Fightful scores round 2 for Werdum 10-9

Round 3: Werdum sticks a right to the body and a body kick connects for him. Browne fires low kicks, but Werdum lands a better one. Werdum then hits a combination on his opponent. Werdum ducks down for a lazy single-leg take down and is unsuccessful. Browne doesn’t punish Werdum for it, but hits a left hook.. Combination from Werdum and a straight right behind it. Browne pops him with a straight right, then a high kick that nearly connects. Werdum tries a flying scissor something. Browne with a right to the body, eats a combination as well. Werdum tries a jumping knee and then lands a counter right and body kick. 

Fight ends to the crowd booing both men and then both camps are trying to fight each other which forces officials to separate them.

Official result: Fabricio Werdum defeated Travis Browne via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 30-27)

 

Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem

Round 1: Miocic hits a couple of punches to Overeem. Miocic gets rocked by Overeem and Overeem goes for a guillotine choke. He nearly locks it in, but Miocic manages to escape. Both exchange punches until Miocic has Overeem to the cage lands a huge flurry of punches to stun him, both men land big punches until Overeem is taken down. Miocic then keeps fighting while on top and punches through Overeem’s guard and knocks him out.

Official result: Stipe Miocic defeated Alistair Overeem via KO (punches), Round 1, 4:27
