Zak Ottow Looks To Make A Statement Against Alex Morono With Last Fight On UFC Contract
Zak Ottow is back in action in just a few short weeks at UFC Fight Night Wichita, facing Alex Morono in a welterweight division attraction.
The welterweight contender revealed to James Lynch that this upcoming bout is the last one on his current UFC contract.
“This is the last fight on my contract, so I think it’s real important for me to get a win here and to go into that third contract winning three out of four. Hopefully, with two knockouts and that puts me in a really good position to keep moving up the ladder…get those better paydays and I really wanna be in the top twenty by the end of the year. So a win here and keep staying active this year…three out of four puts me in a good position to get those higher up the ladder guys,” says Ottow in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Ottow holds a 4-3-0 record under the UFC banner, but has rotated wins and losses throughout that run.
Some fighters may not like fighting under pressure, but Ottow finds the pressure surrounding his potential final UFC bout as a way to perform better.
“I like the pressure, I think I perform better under it. So I kind of put that on myself instead of not thinking too much into it or whatever, the more I put this on a pedestal…the better I’m gonna do. (It’s) the same way that I go into fights after a loss, I’ve never lost two in a row. So now coming off of a win, I put that little added pressure on me to make sure I perform at my very best,” says Ottow.
UFC Fight Night Wichita takes place on Saturday, March 9 from the Intrust Bank Arena with Derrick Lewis and Junior Dos Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
