Report: Juan Archuleta, Patrick Mix Fight For Vacant Bellator Bantamweight Belt

A new Bellator Bantamweight champion will be crowned at Bellator 246: Juan Archuleta or Patrick Mix.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the bout.

Archuleta (24-2-0) has won six of seven under the Bellator banner. He owns notable wins over Ricky Bandejas, Eduardo Dantas and Henry Corrales. Archuleta will headline his first Bellator card, despite having been with the promotion for almost three years. Archuleta has previously challenged for the Bellator featherweight championship, losing to Patricio Pitbull at Bellator 228.

Mix (13-0-0) has picked up two wins in Bellator competition, defeating Ricky Bandejas and Isaiah Chapman. Mix is also coming off of an appearance at Rizin 20, defeating Yuki Motoya by first-round submission. Mix has picked up nine of his 13 professional MMA wins by submission.

Bellator 246 takes place on Saturday, September 12 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Archuleta vs. Mix will headline the card. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
