Report: Cory Sandhagen Pulled From UFC Fight Night Raleigh

Cory Sandhagen expected to face former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Raleigh, but Edgar accepted a short notice opportunity at UFC Fight Night Busan and Sandhagen was left without a foe to battle.

There was still a small chance that Sandhagen and Edgar could battle next month, but Edgar has been medically suspended for 180 days and without the bout happening now, it has been reported by MMA DNA that Sandhagen has also been pulled from UFC Fight Night Raleigh.

Sandhagen commented on the matter via Instagram, while also calling out some potential future opponents:

Me getting ready to fight Frank and hearing the news this AM. I’m not mad – I understand money is a part of life. I just hate that aspect of society and I’m not at a place where dollars are more important then legacy – Frankie’s not in the same boat because he’s already solidified a legacy and I’m bummed I can’t fight such a legend. I trained this AM so I’m not butt hurt anymore – the ship sails on!

With Henry The Hall Monitor still on his power trip and wanting to fight a guy that lost (I know it was close, but on paper Aldo lost), who’s next for me? . A No. 1 contender fight with Cruz or Moraes makes most sense – they would be great fights for fans to watch . Aljimain is hurt, and Yan is a fight that makes more sense down the road.
