Report: Cheick Kongo Faces Timothy Johnson At Bellator 208

A heavyweight division attraction is in the works for Bellator 208 according to ESPN as Cheick Kongo is in action against Timothy Johnson.

Kongo (28-10-2) enters the contest on the strength of a six fight winning streak and the fighter hasn’t suffered a defeat in over three years. Kongo has previously challenged for the Bellator Heavyweight Title, losing to then champion Vitaly Minakov by decision at Bellator 115. Kongo had spent nearly seven years competing in the UFC, earning a record of 11-6-1 while in the promotion.

Johnson (12-4-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this encounter and he has spent the last three-plus years competing in the UFC. Johnson competed a total of seven times under the UFC banner and the fighter earned a record of 4-3-0 in the organization. Johnson is competing outside of the UFC auspices for the first time since October of 2014, when he defeated UFC veteran Travis Wiuff by first round TKO at Dakota FC 19.

Bellator 208 takes place on Saturday, October 13 from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York with Fedor Emelianenko and Chael Sonnen headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
