Travis Wiuff Faces Greg Rebello In New CES MMA 48 Main Event
Matt Bessette has been signed to the UFC and will debut at UFC 220, thus his CES MMA 48 main event against Jamall Emmers has been canceled.
A bout for the vacant CES MMA Heavyweight Title will now headline the card as Travis Wiuff faces Greg Rebello.
Wiuff (75-21-0-1NC) has won two of his last three heading into the bout, with those wins coming over Kevin Asplund and Ron Carter. Wiuff competed once in the UFC, suffering a defeat to Renato Sobral by submission at UFC 52 in April 2005. Wiuff also returns to action for the first time in well over a year, with his last encounter coming in October of 2016.
Rebello (23-8-0) has already earned a total of eleven wins in CES MMA competition, including a win over Bellator MMA veteran Mike Mucitelli. Rebello also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1, suffering a knockout loss to Azunna Anyanwu. Rebello has been in CES MMA for almost seven years and this is going to be his first shot at the heavyweight title.
CES MMA 48 takes place on Friday, February 2 from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island with Travis Wiuff and Greg Rebello headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on AXS TV.
