Max Holloway Goes Through A Battery Of Medical Tests Before UFC 245

UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway will put the gold on the line against Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 245.

Since Holloway has dealt with some medical issues in recent years, a battery of tests was conducted on the champion before the event, but Holloway went through it all for his son.

“At the end of the day I only care about my long run,” Holloway told MMA Junkie. “I care about my longevity. These guys work for (my son) Rush, they don’t work for me. They want to make sure I’m there for Rush, so that’s what we did.”

Holloway passed all of his medical tests conducted after his most recent title defense against former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 240, clearing the way for a bout against Volkanovski.

The champion is only interested in defending his gold against the best the division has to offer and that’s exactly what Volkanovski is.

“He’s the No. 1 contender, he’s the next cupcake on the list,” Holloway said. “I can’t wait to taste the flavor.”

UFC 245 takes place on Saturday, December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
