Max Holloway To Defend UFC Featherweight Championship Against Alexander Volkanovski At UFC 245
UFC is adding another major championship fight to UFC 245.
UFC confirmed on Saturday night at UFC Mexico City that Featherweight Champion Max Holloway is set to defend his crown against the top-ranked Alexander Volkanovski. The bout will be one of two championship fights set for Las Vegas’ UFC 245 show on December 14.
Volkanovski boasts an incredible 20-1 record, which includes an undefeated streak of seven fights in the UFC. He’s picked up huge wins over Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes over the last year, and also has a win over Darren Elkins to his credit. The win halted the most successful streak of Elkins’ career.
Holloway looks to win his sixth UFC title fight, and technically makes his fourth defense of the undisputed Featherweight title. His only hiccup in recent years has been at lightweight against Dustin Poirier, but has beaten Franie Edgar, Brian Ortega, Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis.
The fight joins Amanda Nunes defending her UFC Bantamweight Championship against former UFC Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie.
UFC 245 takes place on December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena from Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful will have full, live coverage of the show, including a post-show podcast.
