Kamaru Usman Not Happy With BMF Championship
UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman, who rules the weight class both Diaz and Masvidal compete at, isn’t very happy with the winner getting a championship belt.
“They dropped the ball in getting my fight done for MSG,” Usman said to Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting. “They had to create something for that. They have 20 losses combined. You’ve got 20 losses? Sit your ass down. You’re not the baddest mother f*cker.“
Usman himself has a title defense coming up, as he is putting the gold on the line against former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 245. Ironically, it was supposed to be Usman and Covington supposed to be headlining UFC 244, but a deal couldn’t be done in time, which lead to Diaz vs. Masvidal headlining and the creation of the BMF Championship.
UFC 244 takes place on Saturday, November 2 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz headlining. UFC 245 takes place on Saturday, December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington headlining.
