Dana White Suggests That UFC Fighters Should Be Used To Stop Vandals During Protests
The world has been in an upheaval ever since the death of George Floyd, which has led to various protests all over the globe.
Vandalism has been an unfortunate part of a lot of those protests and UFC President Dana White has an idea to stop the vandals.
“I think maybe I should send UFC fighters out on the streets to stop this shit,” White said on Steve-O’s podcast (via Karim Zidan Of Bloody Elbow).
Several UFC fighters like UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell, former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor and others have either spoken out against the passing of Floyd or have tried helping keep the peace whenever vandalism arises during the protests.
White also believes that protests won’t do much change, but working with politicians will make a change.
“It’s like when I wanted to come back and have fights in the pandemic. I could have gotten all 350 of my employees, and we could have walked up and down the street and chanted “we wanna fight!” That’s not what we did. We got out and told our story in the media and worked with politicians. That’s how you make real change,” says White.
George Floyd’s funeral service is being held today in Houston, Texas and protests are expected to continue in the coming days.
