Aspen Ladd Loses UFC Fight Night Sacramento Appeal

Aspen Ladd appeared before the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) earlier this week in an attempt to appeal her loss to Germaine De Randamie at UFC Fight Night Sacramento

Ladd, who was defeated by De Randamie via first round knockout, stated that discrimination played a role in referee Herb Dean stopping the bout as quick as he did. Dean, who was also present at the hearing, denied that any form of discrimination played a role in how he officiated the bout,

However, despite the discrimination accusation, a vote of 3-2 was cast to deny Ladd’s appeal according to MMA Junkie, meaning that De Randamie’s victory will stand. It was the three men on the panel (John Carvelli, Luis Ayala, Vernon Williams) who voted against the appeal, while the two women on the panel (Martha Shen-Urquidez and Mary Lehman) who voted for the appeal.

De Randamie will now move onto UFC 245, as she is challenging Amanda Nunes for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title. Ladd will move onto UFC Fight Night Washington DC, where she faces Yana Kunitskaya in a women’s bantamweight division affair.
