Report: Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal Headlining UFC 251, Pending Coronavirus Test

It would appear that UFC 251 has a new main event as UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman will defend the gold against #3 Jorge Masvidal.

Cole Shelton of BJPenn.com first reported the news, but both fighters have to pass coronavirus tests before the bout will get made official.

Usman (16-1-0) is making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Colby Covington at UFC 245. Usman comes into the bout riding a fifteen fight winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in over seven years. Usman has picked up sixteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and half of them came by way of decision.

Masvidal (35-13-0) hasn’t competed since defeating Nate Diaz by third round TKO in the main event of UFC 244 to win the BMF Championship. Masvidal enters the contest riding a three fight winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in almost three years. Masvidal has suffered thirteen losses as a professional MMA fighter and ten of them came by way of decision.

UFC 251 takes place on Saturday, July 11 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
