Dana White Critical Of Referee & Anthony Smith’s Corner At UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira

Anthony Smith competed in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira, suffering a fifth round TKO loss to Glover Teixeira.

UFC President Dana White was in attendance at the event and he is critical of both Smith’s corner and referee Jason Herzog for not stopping the main event sooner.

“I do (think we need more corner stoppages),” White said after the event (via Mike Bohn & John Morgan of MMA Junkie). “I didn’t think his corner was going to let him come out, but that’s between them and their corner. And the ref could’ve stopped that in the fourth, too.”

Smith didn’t just leave the Octagon with a loss, as the fighter was hospitalized after the event with a variety of facial injuries.

White also says that Daniel Cormier, who was commentating at the show, was also unhappy with how the main event went down.

“Us sitting on the outside, it was a little tough to watch,” White said. “Cormier was flipping out. Like, flipping out.”

There is no word at this time as to what is next for Smith, who has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner.
