Anthony Smith Suffered Various Facial Injuries At UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira
A loss wasn’t the only thing that afflicted Smith in that bout, as the fighter also suffered various facial injuries at the hands of Teixeira.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN reported the following on Twitter:
Just spoke to Anthony Smith via text.
Injuries suffered tonight: Broken nose, broken orbital bone, two missing teeth and a cut under his right eye. One tooth in front and one towards the back, he said. His real teeth.

Smith was also hospitalized after the card, but the fighter’s status since being brought to the hospital is unknown at this time.
There are some who have criticized both Smith’s corner and the referee for allowing the fight to continue into the fifth round, but Smith looks at things differently.
“I’m good with the decisions the referee and my corner made,” Smith told ESPN (via Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie). “When the ref made it clear he needed to see something or was gonna stop it, I did what I had to do to stay in the fight. I come out of battle with my shield or I come out on it. That’s my rule. Period.”
No word has been given yet for how long Smith could be out of action for, but more should be known as those injuries heal up. The fighter has now won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night Stockholm.
