Cris Cyborg Believes Dana White Shouldn’t Be Building A “Fight Island”

UFC President Dana White recently revealed that the promotion is building a “Fight Island,” which should be ready to go within a month’s time.

Former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cyborg thinks everybody should be quarantined due to the coronavirus and that White should respect everybody by not building a “Fight Island.”

“Everybody has to be quarantined,” Cyborg said on The No-Sports Report w/Jensen Karp (via Nolan King of MMA Junkie). “It’s the rules for everyone. You know a lot of people don’t want to be home. A lot of people are struggling now, and I think he personally should do something (other) than just think about himself and boxing and MMA fights. … I think it’s better to wait, like everyone – respect everyone.”

White has also said the promotion plans on returning to the UFC Apex to hold future events as well.

Cyborg says White is putting the fighters, plus their families and trainers at risk by having them compete and train during the pandemic.

“Even though the fighters have to be together for training, you could say, ‘OK, I’m going to make an event now.’ Do you think if you (did) say, ‘OK, Cris, you’re going to have a fight,’ I’m going to have to make my team?” Cyborg said. “You know, I have to put my team together. We are going to be together, training. Then you put the risk of the family around you. You know, I think you had to wait and have respect for the process. Be patient.”

The relationship between the UFC and Cyborg fell apart last year when the company declined to re-sign the fighter as White said the promotion was getting “out of the Cyborg business.”
