Douglas Lima Faces Gegard Mousasi For Vacant Middleweight Title At Bellator: San Jose
The vacant Bellator MMA Middleweight Title will get a new owner at Bellator: San Jose as welterweight champion Douglas Lima faces Gegard Mousasi.
Scott Coker announced the bout through Twitter and it will serve as the co-main event of the show.
Lima (32-7-0) is a three time Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion, defeating Rory MacDonald, Andrey Koreshkov and Rick Hawn to start those reigns. LIma is going to be making his Bellator MMA Middleweight Division debut in this bout, having exclusively fought at welterweight thus far in the promotion. Lima has suffered seven losses as a professional MMA fighter and five of them came by way of decision.
Mousasi (46-7-2) is a former Bellator MMA Middleweight Champion, defeating Rafael Carvalho to win the title at Bellator 200. Mousasi defended the belt once before losing it to Rafael Lovato Jr. via majority decision at Bellator 223. Mousasi has picked up forty six wins as a professional MMA fighter and twenty six of them came by way of KO/TKO.
Bellator: San Jose takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Ryan Bader and Vadim Nemkov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
