Douglas Lima Defeats Rory MacDonald To Win Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix And Championship
Lima gets revenge.
Douglas Lima scored a unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45) victory over Rory MacDonald at Bellator 232, winning the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix and the Bellator Welterweight Championship. Lima also scored $1 million for winning the Grand Prix. Lima completely neutralized MacDonald’s game, stuffing his takedown attempts and keeping him at distance with his jab and leg kicks. MacDonald finally scored a takedown in the fifth round, but it was too little too late.
With this victory, Lima is now a three-time Bellator Welterweight Championship. He is also on a three-fight win streak, scoring victories over Andrey Koreshkov and Michael Page in Grand Prix before defeating MacDonald.
