Jorge Masvidal Says UFC Didn’t Book Him Against Conor McGregor To Avoid A Murder Charge
One person that Masvidal wants to fight is former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor, but he says the UFC won’t put the bout together so the promotion can avoid a murder charge.
“That fight…the president deemed it not good because they don’t want a murder charge on them,” said Masvidal on ESPN’s Get Up (via Peter Carroll of MMA Fighting). “They’re not going to allow that to happen.”
Masvidal’s opponent at UFC 244 in Diaz did fight McGregor twice, defeating him at UFC 196 and suffering a loss to the Irishman at UFC 202.
A surging Masvidal also would like to avoid jail time so he can continue beating people up in the Octagon.
“The president himself already said it, so I don’t want to go to jail for killing nobody,” he said. “It’s not what I want to do. I’m here to compete and to keep beating people up.”
UFC 244 takes place on Saturday, November 2 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
