Report: Gegard Mousasi Defends Middleweight Title Against Rafael Lovato Jr. At June Bellator Event
A middleweight title defense has been added to this June’s Bellator card in London according to MMA Junkie as Gegard Mousasi puts the gold on the line against Rafael Lovato Jr.
Mousasi (45-6-2) is going to be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against welterweight champion Rory MacDonald at Bellator 206. Mousasi was originally set to defend the gold against Lovato Jr. at Bellator 214, but pulled out of the bout due to injury. Mousasi will enter the bout riding an eight fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years.
Lovato Jr (9-0-0) has picked up five wins under the Bellator MMA banner, with notable wins coming over John Salter and Gerald Harris. Lovato Jr has picked up nine wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of submission. Lovato Jr has seen just one of his pro MMA bouts go the distance and that came against Chris Honeycutt at Bellator 189.
Paul Daley and James Gallagher are also expected to compete on the card, although opponents have no been announced at this time.
Bellator MMA London takes place on Saturday, June 22 from the SSE Arena in London, England with Gegard Mousasi and Rafael Lovato Jr headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs on the Paramount Network.
