Francis Ngannou Hasn’t Spoken With Dana White In Over A Year
Francis Ngannou was last seen in the main event of UFC Fight Night Phoenix, defeating former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez by first round knockout.
The fighter has seen a resurgence in his career after losing two straight in the UFC, but the relationship with UFC President Dana White may not be doing very well.
“I haven’t talked to Dana White since one year ago, maybe more,” Ngannou said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (via MMA Fighting). “I haven’t talked to him. We are not calling each other. That would change what?”
White did put the fighter on blast following a terrible performance against Derrick Lewis at UFC 226.
Ngannou may not be focused on the relationship with White right now because the fighter has his eyes set on another shot at the UFC Heavyweight Title.
“I don’t know what is the heavyweight title position because [Daniel Cormier] is talking about retirement,” Ngannou said. “No new news about the title right now. I just want to fight for the title. I don’t know if it would be interim or a challenge against DC but however, I want to fight for the title.”
Daniel Cormier is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion and White said a fight has been lined up for him, but it won’t be against Ngannou.
