Israel Martinez Says Jon Jones Is All Business For UFC 232

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson will meet for the soon to be vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Title in the main event of UFC 232.

Israel Martinez is one of Jones’ coaches and he says that a certain event happened recently and that’s when the coach knew Jones was all business for UFC 232.

“It’s like Yair (Rodriguez). Yair overcame a lot and he feels great. Jon’s overcome a lot and he feels great also. You get that vibe from him,” Martinez said on The MMA Hour. “You get that energy. He called me the other day as we were talking to Yair before the fight, wishing Yair good luck, and I noticed his head was shaved. And when Jon Jones shaves his head, that means he’s all business.”

Jones is going to be returning to action for the first time since UFC 214, as he has been on the shelf serving a suspension in line with a failed drug test at the event.

Martinez says Jones’ spirits are high and that has spread to other fighters who train alongside the former light heavyweight champion.

“So it was good to see him with his head shaved. It was good to see him with high spirits, wishing Maycee Barber, wishing Yair Rodriguez good luck, because I cornered those guys. So, he’s ready, his spirits are high, and it’s dangerous when these guys can overcome some stuff and move forward, because Jon’s going to put on a show,” says Martinez.

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
