Report: Jarred Brooks & Justin Scoggins Cut By The UFC

It would appear that the purging of the UFC Flyweight Division has begun as both Jarred Brooks and Justin Scoggins have announced their UFC releases. Scoggins and Brooks would announce their releases via Twitter.

The UFC Flyweight Division is seemingly being eliminated after former champion Demetrious Johnson was traded to One Championship for Ben Askren.

Brooks (14-2-0, 2-2-0 UFC) won two of four in the UFC, with those victories coming over the duo of Eric Shelton and Roberto Sanchez, while those losses came to Deiveison Figueiredo and Jose Torres. Brooks was last seen in action earlier this year at UFC 228, defeating the aforementioned Roberto Sanchez by split decision.

Scoggins (11-5-0, 4-5-0 UFC) has competed in both the bantamweight and flyweight divisions in the UFC, but he ends the UFC tenure on a three fight losing streak. Scoggins hasn’t picked up a win in over three years, with that last victory coming over Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night 82.

These releases come on the heels of the release of Jose Torres, who held both the Titan FC Flyweight Title and the Titan FC Bantamweight Title before signing with the UFC earlier this year.

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor recently suggested that One Championship sign the fighters eliminated from the UFC, it is unknown if these fighters will make their way to that promotion.
