Dana White Says Conor McGregor Not Pressing Charges Against Attackers From UFC 229 Brawl
UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov hopped the cage after his bout against Conor McGregor at UFC 229, instigating a brawl that spilled into the crowd.
McGregor was attacked by some of Nurmagomedov’s teammates during that brawl, whom are reportedly UFC fighters Islam Makhachev and Zubaira Tukhugov, but McGregor is refusing to press charges according to UFC President Dana White.
“The way that that works is, Conor was one of the guys who was attacked and things like that,” White said at the UFC 229 post-fight press conference. “Conor refused to press charges. The guys that they did have, they were released.”
MMA Fighting would also confirm with McGregor’s manager in Audie Attar that McGregor didn’t press charges against the attackers.
Nurmagomedov and his teammates could still face many penalties from the attack, whether they come from the Nevada State Athletic Commission or legally from those affected by the ruckus.
White also promises that the fighters who attacked McGregor will never fight in the UFC again.
“The guys who jumped in will never fight here,” White said. “They’ll never fight here.”
Tukhugov, one of the fighters who allegedly attacked McGregor, was supposed to fight Artem Lobov in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Moncton later this month.
