A new world champion was crowned.
CMLL hosted a special edition of CMLL Viernes Espectacular celebrating the promotion’s 91st Anniversary. As part of the celebrations, Willow Nightingale made her first CMLL Women’s World Title defense against Puerto Rico’s own Zeuxis.
After a hard-hitting bout between the two, Zeuxis ended up picking up the victory in the match with a Spanish Fly to pick up the win and becoming the World Women’s Champion. This was Zeuxis’s third singles title for CMLL, previously holding the REINA-CMLL International Championship & the CMLL National Women’s Championship.
Willow had previously won the title in a Triple Threat in NJPW x CMLL’s joint event “FantasticaMania USA”, outlasting Lluvia & Viva Van after Stephanie Vaquer was stripped from the title after departing CMLL. Willow had lost a championship eliminator match against Kris Statlander on the July 31, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite. No updates have been provided on when Statlander will challenge for the title.
