Zelina Vega Not Giving Up On Wrestling, Wants To Continue To Build As A Manager
Zelina Vega can do it all in WWE, whether it’s successfully manage a world champion or hold her own in the ring. Throughout her WWE career, Vega has primarily been used as a manager alongside Andrade.
She’s been praised for helping elevate Andrade in NXT and then onto the main roster. When she needs to, she can step into the ring, but hasn’t received a major push as an in-ring performer.
“I remember having a conversation with Hunter about where I was going to be with Andrade and he was like, ‘I know you want to wrestle, but I think this pairing is amazing and we should start here.’ A year in he was like, ‘I know said you weren’t going to wrestle but just kidding. You’re main eventing in a six-way, tonight is your last night, you’re going to SmackDown.’ I do want to have my time as a wrestler, that’s not something I’ve given up on. I do love getting to go in there, especially when we do the mixed tags, it’s so much fun. I’m getting the best of both worlds,” said Vega on New Day: Feel The Power podcast.
Zelina went on to say that she loved working with Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano in NXT, saying Triple H wrote the perfect story for the parties involved. She also commented on April 6 episode of WWE Raw where she was part of a half-hour block of action that included Andrade, Garza, Street Profits, and Bianca Belair. When discussing the lengthy segment, she noted that she wasn’t sure she would be wrestling, much less twice, until going to the ring.
She finished by noting, “I’m not giving up on wrestling, I want to have that time, but I’m building myself up as a manager enough to get people to care enough to want to see that.”
Currently, Vega manages Andrade and Angel Garza on WWE Raw. Her group has been a big part of Raw during the empty arena era, appearing in multiple segments throughout the night.
