Zack Gibson Wins 2018 United Kingdom Tournament; Challenges For Championship On Tuesday

Zack Gibson is the winner of the 2018 United Kingdom tournament. 

The last few stages of the 2018 United Kingdom tournament were aired Monday on the WWE Network. The field of 16 competitors were vying for a chance at Pete Dunne and his WWE United Kingdom Championship. 

Zack Gibson came out the winner of the tournament as he beat Travis Banks in the final. The following is an excerpt from the Fightful live coverage of the broadcast.  

Banks gets Gibson in the ring before landing a middle rope enzaguri for a near fall, Gibson trips up Banks and he fails at pinning him with the feet on the ropes. Banks then hits a distracted Gibson with a clothesline followed by a Kiwi Crusher for a near fall, Gibson rolls out of the ring and he blocks the suicide dive attempt. Gibson then hits Banks with Helter Skelter on the inside of the ring for a near fall, Gibson reapplies the Shankly Gates and Banks taps out.

Winner: Zack Gibson

After the match, the trio of Johnny Saint, Triple H & Shawn Michaels shake hands with both of the tournament finalists. WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne comes out and he has a face to face with Gibson.

Gibson will face Pete Dunne in a match on the WWE Network on Tuesday in the same venue. Fightful Wrestling has spoilers for that card since it was filmed last week. 

During the event, WWE also announced the new United Kingdom brand which will be coming soon.
