Zack Gibson Feels That TakeOver: Blackpool Is The NXT UK Brand’s Version Of WrestleMania 1
Today is a massive day for the superstars of NXT U.K.
At 2 PM EST streaming live on the WWE Network is the first-ever NXT U.K. TakeOver show. The event is emanating from the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, England with three championship matches on the line including Pete Dunne defending his coveted WWE U.K. Title against Joe Coffey, and Toni Storm challenging Rhea Ripley for the NXT U.K. Women’s Championship. One of three championships matches will also feature two teams fighting for the vacant NXT U.K. Tag Team Titles.
Those two teams are the ‘Grizzled Young Veterans’ Zack Gibson and James Drake taking on Tyler Bate and Trent Seven. Ahead of TakeOver: Blackpool, the WWE Performance Center in England was unveiled to the world and the entire NXT U.K. roster was in attendance and so were the media and during the media scrum, the ‘Daily Star’ spoke with “Liverpool’s #1” Zack Gibson and he stated that the entire NXT U.K. roster is taking this TakeOver event very seriously and it is like their first WrestleMania.
“We have been taking our training so seriously ahead of this event, and we have been talking about it, and one of the reasons why is because this is our WrestleMania I, this is a huge event for U.K. wrestling.” Gibson expressed. “It is live, it is going out to millions of people around the world, and it is a huge talking point. The whole roster is taking it as seriously as we are — as regardless of what happens at TakeOver two, three, four, five, people are always going to come back to WrestleMania I, NXT TakeOver: Blackpool.”
