The Young Bucks: We Wanted To Dedicate Our AEW Tag Team Title Win To Kobe And Gianna Bryant
The Young Bucks continued to bring titles to Los Angeles at AEW Full Gear when they defeated FTR to win the AEW Tag Team Titles.
Despite being Clippers fans, Matt & Nick Jackson wore Lakers purple and gold at Full Gear while Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler rocked Celtics green.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, the Bucks discussed the thought process behind the color schemes.
“FTR asked us if we’d like to wear something completely opposite of them,” said Nick. “There was talk of superheroes and villains, but there is nothing close to the rivalry of the Celtics and Lakers.”
Matt added, “We represent Los Angeles. We’ve lived near the area our entire lives and spent most of our career grinding in that city. Winning the tag-team championships was appropriate with the Lakers coming off their big title win, along with the Dodgers. Also, most importantly, we want to dedicate our title win to Kobe and Gianna Bryant. Their tragic passing hit all of us hard. The city of L.A. is still mourning their losses.”
The Lakers won the NBA Championship while the Dodgers won the World Series this season, turning Los Angeles into title town.
The Young Bucks are set to take on Top Flight on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
