Xavier Woods And Mega Ran Explain How Woods’ New Theme Came Together
Being king has its perks. For Xavier Woods, becoming King of the Ring meant a crown, a robe, and, for the first time ever, his own theme song as a singles superstar.
Woods’ debuted his new theme on the November 5 episode of SmackDown, calling his shot by saying one of his decrees as king would be to have his own kingly theme.
The track was put together by Mega Ran, who famously performed “Going To The Garden” at NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard.
Speaking to Phoenix New Times, Woods and Mega Ran explained how the track came together.
“I’ve wanted this man to do my theme music for years,” Woods said. “I stalked him, emailed him, wooed him, took him to WrestleMania with my family. Finally, all my courting paid off.”
Woods called Mega Ran on November 1 to put the track together.
“He was like, ‘I think they’re going to do some new music for me [because of winning] King of the Ring. Would you be interested in getting involved?’ And I’m like, ‘Woah, absolutely,’” Mega Ran said. “By the end of the day, [WWE] sent me a backing track and said, ‘If you can finish this by the end of the week, I think we can use this on TV.’ I didn’t know until Friday afternoon it was going to air on [SmackDown] that night. It’s like I’m officially canon in the WWE universe, which is amazing.”
Along with a new theme song and a custom cape, Woods has teased adding a custom crown to his wardrobe. You can find his full comments on his kingly wardrobe by clicking here.
As of now, Woods’ current crown is in possession of Roman Reigns, who took it on WWE SmackDown. If you missed anything from WWE SmackDown, check out Fightful’s full report on the show by clicking here.
