WWE Sources Say Sasha Banks Wasn’t Cleared For Summerslam, Hope She’s Back Soon

Fightful had been asking about Sasha Banks’ status for Summerslam since she was pulled from live events August 14 and 15, which led to her Summerslam match with Bianca Belair being pulled.

In asking WWE sources, Fightful was told that Sasha Banks wasn’t cleared to compete and the company hoped to have her back soon.

Fightful Select had spoken to people at Summerslam who weren’t sure what exactly was going to happen that night, but the plan as of Smackdown was to promote the match as if it were going to happen. To kill an incorrect story that circulated after the go home Smackdown, Sasha Banks’ absence from Smackdown was not planned as a part of the story. Even beyond that, WWE had hoped to get Megan Thee Stallion involved in the show as recently as a week ago.

Those we’ve heard from say they haven’t seen Sasha Banks backstage at all Summerslam, though that is hardly a confirmation of her not being in the building. Becky Lynch would eventually replace her and win the Smackdown Women’s Title.
