WWE Smackdown! Live Results 5/16 The Last Stop On The Road To WWE Backlash!

This is the Fightful.com live coverage for tonight's episode of WWE Smackdown! Live! We are just five days away from WWE Backlash! this Sunday and the go home show has the makings of a PPV of it's own as in our main event, Randy Orton will take on Baron Corbin, AJ Styles will face Jinder Mahal and much more so be sure to come back here at 8PM EST for all of the action!

-We open with Kevin Owens hosting the Highlight Reel and says he's taking over the Highlight Reel from Jericho and that Jericho will never be seen again. AJ comes out and says he's going to win the belt and bring it back to America before he's interrupted by Jinder. who talks about his plans to become WWE champion, AJ saying he should focus on his match tonight or he might not make it to the title match Sunday. 

AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal

Jinder shows off his strength, tossing AJ around the ring with ease, AJ showing off his speed and agility by dodging and dropkicking Jinder before Jinder throws him face first into the bottom turnbuckle. Jinder sends AJ out of the ring, then turns him inside out with a lariat as soon as he puts him back in the ring as we go to commercial.

Jinder hits a basement dropkick for a quick two count as we come back from commercial, putting him in a choke before AJ hits a jawbreaker to get out of it, only for Jinder to drop him with a back elbow once he does. Jinder whips AJ across the ring sternum for a quick two count, then Jinder sets AJ on the top rope before AJ slips out of the back and superkicks him before Jinder catches him running in and superkicks him. AJ dropkicks Jinder when he jumps off of the second rope, then AJ drops Jinder with a dropkick to the knee, then a sliding forearm for a quick two count. Jinder drops AJ with a boot before counters a lariat with a Pele kick, AJ hits an ushigaroshi for a quick two count. AJ goes for the Phenomenal Forearm, but the referee gets distracted by the Singh's allowing Kevin to hit AJ with the belt from behind from the apron. Jinder then hits the Krulass for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jinder Mahal via pinfall

-We get another segment of the Fashion Police where Tyler shows Fandango a bunch of shirts that he stole from the locker loom for The Usos and others before they talk about their plans to win the belts this Sunday at WWE Backlash.​​​​​​​

Breezango vs The Colons

The Colons double team Tyler as we come back from commercial, the match having started during the commercial. They tag in and out and keep Tyler isolated in their corner or keeping half of the ring cut off the best they can. Tyler side steps Primo and hits an enzuigiri before he tags in Fandango who drops Epico repeatedly for a quick two count that Epico breaks up. Fandango then hits Epico with a falcon arrow for the pin and the win after Tyler and Epico are sent out of the ring.

Winner: Breezango via pinfall

-Shane McMahon comes out as we come back from commercial and has Natalya, Carmella and Tamina come out to the ring for a contract signing for a six-women tag before having Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Naomi come out to the ring. They then all square off before signing the contract, then end up brawling as we go to commercial. 

Naomi vs Carmella

Naomi is all over Carmella, but she keeps going to the ropes before Naomi dropkicks her from the apron for a quick two count. Naomi puts her in a submission, but she quickly gets to the ropes before starting to focus on her arm, dragging her down by it. The referee then ejects James from ringside as we go to commercial.

They exchange kicks as we come back from commercial until Naomi dropkicks Carmella out of the ring and to the floor. Naomi comes after her and Carmella superkicks her before she rolls back in the ring as the referee begins the count. Naomi gets back in at the count of eight, but Carmella mounts and beats on her immediately for a quick two count, then sends her into the corner before moon walking and hitting a bronco buster for a near fall. Carmella puts Naomi in a head lock before Naomi powers out of it and drops her with a series of clotheslines before doing a jawbreaker. The referee then has everyone leave at ringside before they end up brawling and Carmella uses the distraction to roll Naomi up for the pin and the win.

Winner: Carmella via pinfall

Randy Orton vs Baron Corbin

They lock up and shove each other until Randy puts Corbin in a headlock, then they shove each other more before Randy teases an RKO, but Corbin shoves him away. Randy beats on Corbin, then hits him with a double axed handle off of the top rope before tossing him into a corner and beating on him with right hands. Randy whips him across the ring, but he slides out and runs around and slides back in, hitting Randy with a clothesline for a quick two count as we go to commercial.

Corbin stomps on Randy as we come back, having kept control through the commercial and choking Randy in the ropes. Randy comes back with a series of right hands, then Corbin drops Randy with a stiff right hand before he mocks him and plays to the crowd. Corbin goes for a choke slam, but Randy counters and Corbin is sent shoulder first into the ring post before Randy drops him with a series of clotheslines and a powerslam before Corbin rolls out onto the apron. Randy hits the draping DDT, then Corbin counters an RKO with a Deep Six for a near fall. Randy ends up hitting an RKO after all for the pin and the win after Corbin runs out and back into the ring for the pin and the win.

Winner: Randy Orton via pinfall
