WWE Smackdown on FOX Results for 7/16/21 The Last Stop Before Money in the Bank
It’s the final edition of Smackdown on FOX before Money in the Bank this Sunday night!
Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight’s edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX!
– We open tonight’s show with a video package for the WWE, showing moments with intense crowd reaction before the chairman of the WWE Mr.McMahon comes out onto the stage and asks where the hell the WWE Universe have been.
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns & The Usos) (w/ Paul Heyman) vs The Mysterios & Edge
Edge and Jey start the match off before Rey and Jimmy come in and Rey drags Jimmy to the corner where Edge takes control of Jimmy until he gets the hot tag to Roman who suplexes Dom for two before shoving him out of the ring and onto the floor before playing to the crowd. Roman then powerbombs Dom onto the announce table before posing as we go to commercial.
We come back from the break to Dom making his come back on Jimmy as Edge gets the hot tag and clears Jimmy off of the apron and Roman gets off before he can be dropped before Edge clotheslines Roman at ringside. Rey hits a diving seated senton before hitting Jey with a DDT for a two count that Jimmy breaks up before Dom takes out Jimmy before Roman sends Dom into the post and saves Jey from a 619 before driving Rey into the apron. Edge then spears Roman at ringside before Jey rolls Rey up for the pin and the win.
Winner: The Bloodline defeat The Mysterios and Edge via pinfall.
– After the match Roman attacks Rey before Edge spears him and locks in a cross face with a piece of a chair before Roman taps before Edge holds the title up and drapes it over Roman as we go to commercial.
– Backstage Rey and company discuss their defeat moments ago before Rey and Dom leave and Edge is interviewed about what just happened and how he plans to become the Universal champion at Money in the Bank this Sunday night. After the interview Edge then runs into Seth Rollins who mocks him before saying that he’s going to win the Money in the Bank match and finish what he started seven years ago before walking away.
– We get a video package for Toni Storm who will be making her main roster debut next week.
– Sami Zayn comes out to the ring and addresses how he’s being purposely excluded from the Men’s Money in the Bank match before he’s interrupted by the returning Finn Balor who attacks Sami and lays him out before playing to the crowd.
Shotzi & Nox vs Natalya & Tamina
Tamina slams Shotzi and woman handles her before hitting a running clothesline in the corner and she and Natty double up on Shotzi before she comes back and counters a sharpshooter before getting distracted by Tamina on the apron. Tamina comes back in and she and Natty stomp Shotzi in the corner before Shotzi fights out of the corner and crawls to Nox who rocks Natty with strikes and kicks Tamina off of the apron before hitting Natty with a running back elbow and an inverted cannonball. Nox then hits Natty with the Shiniest Wizard for a near fall that Tamina breaks up before Liv and Zelina brawl at ringside and Nox capitalizes off of the chaos and pins Natty for the win.
Winner: Nox and Shotzi defeat Natalya and Tamina via pinfall.
– After the match Natty and Tamina lay out Liv and Zelina before Liv takes the champs out and points to the briefcases above the ring.
Smackdown Women’s Championship Match
Bianca Belair (c) vs Carmella
The two shove each other before Carmella slaps Bianca and Bianca chases her around ringside before Carmella hits an arm drag and Bianca drops her with a shoulder block before dropkicking her and Carmella hits her with back elbows in the corner. Carmella hits a bronco buster for two before Bianca drives her into the corner and Carmella pulls Bianca into the post before throwing her into the barricade and rolling her back inside for two. Carmella then tosses Bianca back outside and tosses her back into the barricade repeatedly before playing to the crowd as we go to commercial.
We come back from the break to Bianca making her comeback before Carmella hits a frankensteiner for a deep two count before countering the KOD and the two exchange pin attempts before Bianca powers out of a guillotine and Carmella superkicks her at ringside. Carmella then gets a near fall before Bianca pins Carmella with the KOD for the pin and the win.
Winner: Bianca Belair retains her Smackdown Women’s title by defeating Carmella via pinfall.
– Backstage Alpha Academy cut a promo before Cesaro interrupts them and is laid out by Otis as we go to commercial.
Otis (w/ Chad Gable) vs Cesaro
The two exchange before Otis beats on Cesaro against the ropes before Cesaro briefly comes back with uppercuts and is distracted by Chad before Otis slams him and Cesaro sends Otis into the post before Chad hits Cesaro with a German for the disqualification.
Winner: Cesaro defeats Otis via disqualification.
– After the match Chad attacks Cesaro before Cesaro lays him out with a pop-up uppercut and swings him before Otis saves Chad and hits a running splash in the corner before hitting a Vader bomb.
– Backstage Paul is interviewed ahead of Roman’s title defense against Edge at Money in the Bank this Sunday night before he’s interrupted by Big E.
– We get a video package for the saga between Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura and the continued fall from grace for Corbin before he’s interrupted by Kevin Owens who is coming out for his Fatal Four Way match against Big E, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Seth Rollins before Kevin lays Baron out with a stunner.
Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Big E vs Kevin Owens
E immediately spears Seth when he tries to get out of the ring before KO and Shin hit topes and Shin tosses KO back inside as we go to commercial.
We come back from the break as E clears the ring before he and Shin hit KO with a double superplex before everyone hits a move until Shin hits an exploder and E hits him with the Big Ending for a near fall that Seth breaks up. Seth then brings a ladder into the ring and lays out Shin before KO hits a diving elbow drop onto Shin through the announce table before Seth pins E with the Curb Stomp onto the ladder in the ring for the win.
Winner: Seth Rollins defeats Big E, Kevin Owens, and Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall.
