WWE Smackdown on FOX Results for 12/20/19 New Day vs Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
The New Day take on Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro tonight at 8pm EST on FOX!
Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX! We hope you enjoy the show and be sure to check out the post-show podcast afterwards!
-We open the show with a recap of Bray Wyatt versus The Miz at TLC where a clean shaven head and trimmed facial hair Daniel Bryan returned and took out Bray. We open the show in the arena with Daniel Bryan who comes out to the ring and says that he doesn’t know what happened and that he didn’t notice his beard or hair missing, but the Daniel Bryan brand he created. Daniel says that his daughter didn’t recognize him, but he recognized himself and talks about his attack on Bray Wyatt before saying that he’s going to change Bray like Bray changed him. Daniel challenges Bray to come out to the ring before The Miz comes out instead and says that Bray attacked his family and that Bray is sick and a monster. Miz says that it wasn’t about winning or losing, but protecting his family before saying that he’s going to take the Universal Championship before they’re interrupted by Baron Corbin. Corbin insults both Miz and Daniel before saying that he’s next in line to face Bray after defeating Roman Reigns at TLC before saying that Miz and Daniel failed as WWE Superstars and fathers. Dolph Ziggler slides into the ring unnoticed and attacks Miz and Daniel from behind before they celebrate as we go to commercial.
-It’s announced that Daniel Bryan and The Miz will be teaming up to take on Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in tonight’s main event before Heavy Machinery are interviewed backstage and Mandy Rose shows up and gives Otis a ham and a kiss on the cheek before leaving.
Miracle on 34th Street Fight Match
Heavy Machinery vs The Revival
The Revival take control as the match starts before HM come back with stereo back body drops and clear the ring and The Revival drop Tucker across the announce table before tearing up presents and throwing them at Otis as well as throwing cookies at him. The Revival then spray Otis with a fire extinguisher before putting him through a table as we go to commercial.
The Revival are in control as we come back from commercial, Dawson and Wilder doubling up on Tucker on the apron before Tucker suplexes Scott onto the ramp. Scott holds Tucker before Dash throws a bowling ball down the ramp and hits Tucker with it before Scott tosses him back into the ring and they set up a tree in the corner. Tucker crotches Dash onto the tree before sending Scott out of the ring and The Revival hit him with the fire extinguisher before tossing Tucker over the announce table. Scott throws the ham and infuriates Otis who drops Scott and takes out Dash before pouring Legos on the mat and suplexing Scott onto the Legos. Otis then hits the caterpillar before Heavy Machinery hit the Compactor for the pin and the win.
Winner: Heavy Machinery defeat The Revival via pinfall when they pin Scott with The Compactor.
-Mandy talks to Sonya backstage before Otis shows up and they exchange a hug before we go back to The Revival in the ring and they talk about how gimmick matches are a joke at their expense before they’re interrupted by Elias who comes out onto the stage. Elias plays a song for The Revival before Sami Zayn meets with Braun Strowman backstage and says that he is Braun’s secret Santa before Braun goes to attack him and Cesaro and Shinsuke show up and Braun says that he wants an Intercontinental Championship match for Christmas.
Carmella vs Sonya Deville
Sonya gits a sliding knee for two before choking Carmella in the ropes and kicking her in the corner before Carmella catches her with a back elbow and a boot. Carmella clotheslines Sonya and superkicks her before hitting a flat liner into the Code of Silence for the tap and the win.
Winner: Carmella defeats Sonya Deville via submission with the Code of Silence.
-We get a promo by Sheamus who’s set to return soon.
The New Day vs Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
Cesaro and Kofi kick things off for their respective teams, Cesaro showing off his superior strength with a gut wrench suplex for two before locking in a rear chin lock. Shinsuke drops Kofi with a kick and locks in a front headlock before Shinsuke locks in a sleeper. Kofi gets free and tags in E who sends Cesaro off of the apron and hits Shinsuke with a belly to belly suplex and a splash for two. E catches Shinsuke coming in and hits a uranage for a two count that Cesaro breaks up before Kofi sends him out of the ring and takes him out with a tope. E rolls out of the ring before Cesaro clotheslines at ringside and Shinsuke rolls him back into the ring before hitting him with a running knee with E hanging over the edge of the apron.
Shinsuke then sends E into the ring steps as we go to commercial.
E kicks Cesaro away who tags in Shinsuke and Nakamura hits E with a diving knee off of the top and goes for a Kinshasa before E turns him inside out with a clothesline. Kofi hits Cesaro with a huricanrrana before hitting a jumping stomp for a near fall before hitting a clothesline into a Boom Drop before Cesaro counters the Trouble in Paradise with a pop-up uppercut for a near fall. New Day clear the ring before Kofi takes out Cesaro and Shinsuke at ringside and hits a diving cross body once he’s got Cesaro back in the ring for a near fall. Shinsuke takes out E at ringside before Cesaro swings Kofi and hits a jumping stomp for a near fall before Kofi pins Cesaro with an inside cradle for the pin and the win.
Winner: New Day defeat Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall.
-Braun Strowman comes out after the match and attacks Cesaro and Shinsuke before Sami says Shinsuke from a running powerslam and Sami and company leave as we go to Daniel Bryan and The Miz getting ready backstage and Miz thanks Daniel for what he did to Bray at TLC. Daniel says that he didn’t do it for him before they have a fight over who hates who more before Sasha Banks comes out onto the stage before Bayley comes out for her match against Dana Brooke.
Bayley vs Dana Brooke
Bayley backs Dana into the corner for a clean break before hitting a snap mare and Dana comes back with forearms and a hip toss into a PK for two. Bayley slams Dana to the mat by her hair before stomping her in the corner and locking in a rear headlock before Dana gets to her feet and drops the champion with an enzuigiri. Dana hits a swanton bomb for a near fall, Bayley grabbing the bottom rope before Dana hits a back flip elbow and clotheslines Bayley before hitting a twisting senton for a near fall. Bayley counters a powerbomb and hits snake eyes in the corner before pinning Dana with her new finisher for the win.
Winner: Bayley defeats Dana Brooke via pinfall.
-After the match Bayley and Sasha berate Dana before they’re ran off by Lacey Evans as we go to commercial.
Lacey Evans vs Sasha Banks
Lacey drives Sasha into the corner and smashes the back of her head into the top turnbuckle before Sasha turns it around and hits running knees in the corner and stomps Lacey as Bayley and Dana look on at ringside. Sasha hits a float over suplex for two before dropkicking Lacey and hitting a sliding meteora for two and plays to the crowd before smashing her face into the top turnbuckle. Sasha stomps Lacey before Lacey traps her in the ropes and sends her down onto the apron before kicking her off of it and down onto the floor. Lacey goes to hit Bayley with the Women’s Right at ringside before Sasha capitalizes and sends her into the barricade ad Lacey’s family look on at ringside. The referee then calls for the bell as they’re both counted out.
Winner: No contest due to double count out.
-After the match Sasha mocks Lacey’s daughter before Lacey attacks Sasha and Dana pulls her off before Bayley and Sasha leave as we go to commercial.
-We get this week’s Progressive Match Flo featuring Corbin defeating Roman Reigns at TLC.
Daniel Bryan & The Miz vs Baron Corbin & Dolph Ziggler
Miz and Daniel argue before Dolph and Corbin attack them and Miz and Daniel hit them with dueling Yes kicks before clearing the ring as we go to commercial.
We return to Daniel and Corbin in the ring, Daniel dropping Baron before doing the Yes chant and running dropkicks in the corner before Corbin catches him with the Deep Six for two. Dolph comes in and grapevines the legs of Daniel to keep him from tagging in Miz before knocking Miz off of the apron. Corbin stomps Daniel behind the referee’s back before coming in legally and mocking the Yes chant and Daniel while stomping Daniel. Dolph comes back in and taunts Daniel before beating on him in the corner and Corbin hits a running clothesline and setting Daniel on the top turnbuckle. Daniel hits a shotgun missile dropkick and gets the tag to The Miz who hits a running clothesline in the corner to Dolph before hitting him with a DDT for a near fall. Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale to Corbin before Miz locks in a figure four and Daniel takes out Corbin with a running knee. Miz then submits Dolph with the figure four for the tap and the win.
Winner: The Miz and Daniel Bryan defeat Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin via submission when Miz submits Dolph with a figure four leg lock.
-After the match it’s announced that Daniel, Miz and Corbin will square off in a number one contender triple threat match next week as we go off the air with the lights going out and Bray laughing.
