WWE’s ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ Event Will Have A 15-Minute Prayer Break During The Show
News on today's 'Greatest Royal Rumble' event.
At 12 P.M. noon EST on the WWE Network, the sports-entertainment company will present the 'Greatest Royal Rumble' event live from the King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Over the past 24 hours there have been rumors making the rounds that there was going to be an hour-long Islamic prayer intermission during the event.
Adam Silverstein, who is the managing editor at CBS Sports shared that WWE has confirmed to CBS Sports that there will be a prayer break during the event and it will be for fifteen minutes, but will not impact the viewing audience.
As noted in the tweet the prayer break is out of respect for the local customs of the culture. Former three-time World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho recently appeared on the CBS 'In This Corner' podcast and shared that the last time WWE traveled to the Middle East there was an hour-long break that had to be taken so that fans in attendance could go pray.
"Last time we were there, the show started at 5 p.m. and we had to stop at 6 p.m. so the entire audience; who were all made up of males by the way, there were no women allowed in the show — could go out and pray at 6 p.m.," Jericho said.
Fightful will have live coverage of the 'Greatest Royal Rumble' event, along with a post-show podcast where our very own Sean Ross Sapp & Jeff Hawkins will be reviewing the action that transpires during the show.
