WWE’s First Netflix Film Reportedly Finishes Filming
WWE has been devoting a lot of time recently to their budding relationship with Netflix. In addition to the new sitcom starring The Big Show, WWE has been filming a movie in Vancouver, British Columbia, that will be exclusive to the platform.
Titled The Main Event, The film follows the story of a 10-year-old boy who is bullied but dreams of growing up to be a WWE superstar. The main character eventually gets to live out his dream with NXT early through the help of a magical Luchador mask he discovers.
Featuring plenty of superstars from WWE/NXT including Otis, Keith Lee, and Babatunde, the family film has just concluded shooting according to a report from PWInsider.
Babatunde is reportedly the main antagonist in the film, with Keith Lee reportedly having a major role as one of the key protagonist stars in the film. The film also features a number of independent talent, including Ace Steel. Steel was once Donald Trump in a parody match on a 2007 episode of Monday Night Raw. Steel is also known for being the trainer of CM Punk and Colt Cabana.
Notable stars such as Sheamus, The Miz, Beth Phoenix, Mauro Ranallo, and Kofi Kingston have filmed scenes for the film.
