WWE Reportedly Changed Plans For Two Matches On Raw
Two of the most noteworthy results from last night's episode of Raw reportedly came together rather suddenly.
PWInsider reported that the original plan for Raw was to have Neville, not Kalisto, challenge and defeat Enzo Amore for the Cruiserweight Title. One reason for the change was the segment from two weeks ago where Neville attacked Enzo, thus rendering him in breach of Enzo's no-contact clause and unable to challenge the champion. The WWE creative team also opted to go with Kalisto since the date of Raw, October 9, fell on what would have been the 50th birthday for the late Eddie Guerrero.
Kalisto and Enzo are set for a rematch at the TLC pay-per-view on October 22,.
Plans for the Fatal Five-Way in the women's division also changed. That match saw Emma prevail, and earn a chance to be Asuka's opponent at TLC in what will be Asuka's first televised match on the main WWE roster. The original plan was for that to be a triple threat involving Emma, Alicia Fox and Nia Jax. Then, according to PWInsider, they planned to hold that match next week before changing plans again to book a five-way match on last night's episode, thus allowing more time to promote the Asuka-Emma match on next week's episode of Raw — the go-home show before TLC.
Emma lost to Asuka at NXT Takeover London in December of 2015.
