WWE RAW (2/27/23) Results: Miz’s Big Announcement, Brock Lesnar Answers Omos’ WrestleMania Challenge

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) (c) vs. Becky Lynch & Lita

  • Will Brock Lesnar show up and accept Omos’ challenge to a match at WrestleMania?

  • Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) vs. Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa

– Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa kick off the show. Jimmy reminds everyone that Roman Reigns will be on SmackDown. Jimmy also says that Cody Rhodes will not defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. The Street Profits interrupt them and make fun of Jey Uso for not being around. A match is made between the four men once The Street Profits attack The Bloodline before the bell.

Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) vs. Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa

The end of the match came when The Street Profits were going for a Doomsday Device on Jimmy Uso. Solo Sikoa tagged himself in and broke up the move hitting Angelo Dawkins with a Samoan Spike for the victory. 

Winners: Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa

After the match, The Bloodline continued to beat down The Profits. Kevin Owens stopped Solo from making a Running Hip Attack, hitting the ring in a black hoodie and nailing a Superkick on solo and a Stunner on Jimmy Uso. 

– Up next, Brock Lesnar and Omos will be in the VIP Lounge.

MVP’s VIP Lounge w/ Brock Lesnar & Omos

Brock Lesnar is out first, even before the host of the show. Brock makes himself comfortable while MVP makes his entrance. Brock Lesnar is vibing to MVP’s theme song. MVP says this isn’t how he envisioned the segment getting started. Brock Lesnar invites him into the ring. MVP chooses to stay outside. 

Brock Lesnar says he is all about business. Brock Lesnar says MVP needs to sell him on the fight with Omos. Brock Lesnar promises not to suplex MVP. Brock Lesnar insists on being sold on the fight for WrestleMania. MVP goes into hype mode. MVP says Brock Lesnar couldn’t have his way with Bobby Lashley, but for some reason, he thinks he can have his way with Omos. MVP says a giant will subdue and conquer a beast. 

Brock Lesnar high-fives MVP for hype for the fight. Brock Lesnar accepts a match against Omos WrestleMania. Brock Lesnar wants MVP to drink some of his “White Lightning,” MVP can get through the whole drink and spits it out in Brock Lesnar’s face leading to Brock Lesnar hitting an F5. 

– Becky Lynch and Lita are interviewed. Both say they are looking forward to becoming Tag Team Champions. 

– Cody Rhodes is next.

Chad Gable vs. Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes hit an Inverted Superplex on Chad Gable going into the first commercial break of the match. Back from the break, Cody is nursing his knee as Chad Gable hits a Dragon Screw in the corner. Chad Gable misses a Diving Headbutt, and Cody takes control, but he is still nursing the knee injury. He hits a Powerslam followed by a Beautiful Disaster kick for two. Chad Gable tries to go behind Cody Rhodes, and Cody counters it and locks Gable into a Figure 4 Leg Lock. Gable makes it to the ropes. Cody Rhodes goes for another Beautiful Disaster kick, and Chad Gable catches him coming off the ropes with a German Suplex for two. 

Gable counters a Backslide and hits a Cliffhanger DDT followed by a Moonsault for two. Chad Gable chops Cody Rhodes and Cody fires up like he’s Sting from 1988. Chad Gable gets Hip Tossed to the outside, and Cody hits a suicide dive on Gable. Otis appears to be distracted, presumably by Maxxine Dupri. Cody Rhodes points out to Otis where she might be in the crowd, and then once Otis realizes it’s Cody beside him, he charges at him, but “The American Nightmare side steps and sends Otis into the front row. Cody returns to the ring and hits a Cody Cutter followed by the CrossRhodes on Gable for the victory. 

Winner: Cody Rhodes

– Cody cuts a promo saying he has not seen Roman Reigns face-to-face. Cody announces that he will go to SmackDown this Friday to be face-to-face with Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns is currently advertised to deal with his family drama this Friday. 

– Baron Corbin is being interviewed backstage and is immediately cut off by the appearance of Kevin Owens, who reiterates that he is determined to bring down The Bloodline by himself. 

– Judgment Day recaps their appearance on SmackDown this past Friday. Rhea Ripley says she looked into Charlotte Flair’s eyes and saw acceptance because Charlotte Flair knows that her time has come. Dominik Mysterio wants to have a heart-to-heart with his dad, Rey Mysterio. Finn Balor says he’s playing chess while Edge is playing checkers. Finn Balor then challenges Edge to a match at WrestleMania. 

– Otis is backstage outside of the trainer’s room. The Maximum Male Models appear, and Maxxine says that she would love to watch him wrestle tonight, so he goes off to find Adam Pearce. 

Asuka vs. Carmella

Early on in the match went back and forth. Asuka would hit a sliding knee to the face. The action would spill to the floor, and Carmella would hit a super kick to send us to commercial. Back from the commercial, Asuka hits Carmella with a flurry of strikes. Asuka misses a missile dropkick, and Carmella hits another kick to the face and gets a near fall. Carmella goes for the coat of Silence submission, and Asuka counters that with her new submission for the victory. 

Winner: Asuka

– After the match, Asuka calls out Bianca. Bianca shows up and reminds Asuka that she is the EST of WWE. Carmella then knocks Asuka into Bianca. 

– Up next, Piper Niven will face Candice LeRae.

Candice LeRae vs. Piper Niven

Piper Niven mainly controlled the match and had a Cobra Clutch on Candice. Due to a distraction by Nikki Cross, Candice got a quick Roll-Up victory. 

Winner: Candice LeRae

– Johnny Gargano will face Otis later tonight. He is confronted by Judgment Day, and Finn Balor challenges him to a match for next week. 

Miz TV: WrestleMania Edition

The Miz is out next and announces he will host WrestleMania 39. Seth Rollins interrupts. Seth Rollins calls The Miz an a-hole. Seth Rollins says he’s trying to get a hold of Logan Paul and needs Miz’s phone to get his phone number. Miz declines to call Logan Paul for Seth Rollins, and Seth Rollins steals Miz’s phone.

Seth Rollins calls Logan Paul on FaceTime. Seth Rollins challenges Logan Paul to show up on Monday Night Raw next week via FaceTime call from the Miz’s phone. Logan Paul accepts. Seth Rollins delivers a Curb Stomp to The Miz for good measure.

– Cathy Kelley interviews Damage CTRL backstage. Bayley promises victory for her team tonight. Austin Theory enters the frame and says he’s tired of his accomplishments being ignored for all of the headlines about John Cena. Austin Theory says that next week he will show up and give John Cena all the respect he deserves to his face, but he wants the same treatment in return. 

Bobby Lashley vs. Elias

Elias does his best to get the jump on Bobby, but Lashley is able to defeat him quickly with a Flatliner, Spear, and Hurt Lock. Throughout the match, Rick Boogs was taking notes. 

Winner: Bobby Lashley 

– After the match, Bobby Lashley said he was not in a good mood after being low-blowed by Brock Lesnar at WWE Elimination Chamber. Bobby Lashley also told Bray Wyatt to stop playing little kid games and keep his name out of his mouth. As Bobby was leaving, Bray Wyatt appeared on the screen doing the muscle man dance. 

– Chelsea Green is backstage complaining to Adam Pearce about the fact that she was in Ottawa, Illinois instead of Canada last week. Carmella shows up, and Adam informs her that next week she will face Bianca Belair. Chelsea and Carmella appear to hit it off backstage.

– Otis is out with the Maximum Male Models, and he will face Johnny Gargano next.

Otis vs. Johnny Gargano

Otis starts off strong with a Spinning Back Elbow. Otis falls to the outside and Maxxine Dupri tells him that he needs to focus, leading Otis to catch a diving Johnny Gargano and drop him on the announcement table. The Maximum Male Models try to attack Johnny and Dexter Lumis comes out for the save. Johnny gets the victory with One Final Beat. 

Winner: Johnny Gargano 

– Cathy Kelley interviews Paul Heyman. Heyman assures everyone that Cody Rhodes will confront Roman Reigns this Friday, and if he doesn’t, Roman Reigns will be there to confront Cody Rhodes.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) (c) vs. Becky Lynch & Lita

Becky Lynch and Lita showed good tag team skills, hitting a variation of Poetry in Motion. Bayley gets involved on the outside pulling Lita off of the apron. Trish Stratus comes out to neutralize her. Lita hits IYO Sky with a Tilt-A-Whirl Headscissors, a Headlock Driver, a Twist of Fate, and Litasault for the win as Becky Lynch puts the Dis-Arm-Her on Dakota on the apron. After the match, the babyfaces celebrate as the pyro goes off, and the show goes off the air. 

Winners and new champions: Becky Lynch and Lita
