WWE Pays Tribute To ZZ Top Bassist Dusty Hill Following His Passing At Age 72
WWE pays tribute to Dusty Hill.
Sadly, the legendary bassist of ZZ Top passed away today at the age of 72. ZZ Top was once the guest host act of Monday Night Raw 11 years ago back on July 20, 2009.
WWE is saddened to learn that Dusty Hill of ZZ Top passed away at the age of 72.
The Dallas native left an indelible mark on the music industry as the bassist for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted ZZ Top. Hill and his bandmate Billy Gibbons were fans of WWE, and the iconic, bearded duo hosted the July 20, 2009, episode of Monday Night Raw from Raleigh, North Carolina. The unmistakable bandmates were often found ringside at other WWE events, including Unforgiven 2005.
With classic hits such as “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’” and more, ZZ Top left a legendary legacy across 15 studio albums with over 50 million records sold worldwide.

Other wrestling connections for the band include their music being utilized during the territory days of wrestling. There was a video package in the Memphis territory for The Fabulous Ones to the sound of Sharp Dressed Man.
The Von Erich family used La Grange as their theme song in their home territory as well. La Grange is also the base for the opening of Bruce Prichard’s podcast. Stacy Keibler also utilized Legs as her entrance theme song; however, that song was a cover by Kid Rock.
