WWE Pays Tribute Rock Legend Little Richard Following The Singer’s Passing At Age 87
WWE pays tribute to Little Richard.
The legendary “Wild Man of Rock and Roll” passed away on Saturday, May 9th, 2020 at the age of 87. in the WWE Universe, he was one of the many names that got to sing America the Beautiful at Wrestlemania. Richard sang alongside a choir at WrestleMania 10 in 1994.
Elsewhere in wrestling, Little Richard was the inspiration for Marc Mero’s WCW persona, Johnny B. Badd, with the lyrics of his theme song even saying “he’s as pretty as a picture, he looks just like Little Richard.” Vince McMahon was such a fan of the Persona that he nicknamed Marc Mero “The Wildman” in WWE.
Unfortunately, the singer passed away after a battle with bone cancer. WWE paid tribute to Richard on their website.
WWE is saddened to learn that Little Richard, The Founding Father of Rock and one of the most influential musicians of all time, passed away today at age 87.
With a catalog of classics to his credit, including “Good Golly Miss Molly,” “Long Tall Sally” and “Tutti Frutti” – memorably covered by Hall of Famer “Mean” Gene Okerlund on “The Wrestling Album”– Little Richard made an indelible mark on the WWE Universe with a stirring performance of “America the Beautiful” at WrestleMania X in Madison Square Garden.
