WWE NXT Recap (August 10th) Asuka & Bayley Make It Official!

Welcome to the FIghtful.com live recap for tonight’s episode of WWE NXT. I’m Ryan Cook and I’ll be taking you through all the action as we are just weeks away from NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and tonight NXT Women’s Champion Asuka is set to make her match against Bayley official as they have the contract signing for their title match tonight and much more! Be sure to come back here at 8 PM EST for all the action!

-William Regal comes out then mentions Takeover in tew weeks as Bayley then Asuka comes out. Bayley picks up the mic and talks about how she became NXT Women’s Champion at Brooklyn last year. She says that she is ready to face Asuka and win the belt. The mystique behind Asuka is gone and that she is going to become the first two time NXT Women’s champion. Asuka says she doesn’t have what it takes and that she respects Bayley. They face off after Asuka signs the contract. Asuka offers a handshake and Bayley denies her then gets back in the ring and they face off before Asuka leaves. They then show The Authors of Pain as we go to commercial.

The Authors of Pain vs Jobbers

They double team the guy in the jeans, tagging in back and forth.then smash the other one. AOP then hit double powerbombs for the pin and the win.

Winner: Authors of Pain via pinfall with a double powerbomb.

-After the match TM61 come out and get destroyed with a powerbomb and a sidewalk slam big boot. They’re really booking these guys as monsters. They then interview Shinsuke Nakamura backstage about his match with Samoa Joe at NXT.

Adrade Cien Almas vs Angelo Dawkins

Almas gets the advantage early after a hurricanrrana, but Dawkins quickly counters with a spinning splash into the corner for a quick 2 count. He goes for it again, but Almas ducks and htis a springboard dropkick. Almas hits double knee into the corner then follows up with a DDT for the pin and the win. I think Dawkins looked good in this match, excited to see more from him.

Winner: Adrade Cien Almas via pinfall with a DDT

-Bobby Roode comes out after the match and congratulates Almas. He then talks about NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, saying that William Regal has put them in a match together at the event. As we come back from commercial we see Austin Aries talking to GM Regal, saying he doesn’t have an opponent for Takeover Brooklyn yet. Regal announces that he will face No Way Jose.

Billie Kay vs Liv Morgan

Liv shows off a lot of agility early, doing various backflips and leg scissors. Billie hits a back elbow for a quick 2 count then slams her down for a 1 count. Liv hits a clothesline then a bulldog, but it’s not enough as Billie Kay hits a big boot and gets the pin and the win. I think it’s really interesting they have a woman using the big boot as a finisher.

Winner: Billie Kay via pinfall with a big boot.

-They show some clips of the Cruiserweight Classic. Next they show Ciampa and Gargano backstage talking to Regal about Takeover: Brooklyn, saying they’re going to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

-They next show Hideo Itami’s return last week and his match against Shawn Maluta, plugging that he’ll be in action next week. They then interview

Mojo Rawley vs Samoa Joe

Mojo rushes Joe, using his superior strength to knock Joe out of the ring, this is something else. Rawley then hits a headbutt then goes for a spear, but Joe gets out of the way and throws him into the stairs. Joe tosses Mojo back in the ring then they exchange right hands before Joe kicks him in the head. Joe ends up with a close 2 count after an elbow drop as they talk a lot about Shinsuke. Joe goes for the Muscle Buster, but it’s countered then a Coquina Clutch, but that’s countered too. Mojo hits a modified full nelson buster for a close 2 count, but Joe applies the Coquina clutch out of no where and gets the tap and the win.

Winner: Samoa Joe via submission with the Coquina Clutch.

-Shinsuke comes out after the match, but security gets in the way. Shinsuke mocks Joe who’s being held back then grabs his nose. Shinsuke keeps mocking Joe who’s being held back by like 10 men as we go off the air.
