WWE NXT (9/5/2023) Results: Womens Title Bout, Mustafa Ali vs Dragon Lee, No DQ Match & More

On September 5, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of NXT on the USA Network.
The show was headlined by Tiffany Stratton defending her NXT Womens Championship against Kiana James, and Dragon Lee facing Mustafa Ali with Dominik Mysterio as the special guest referee. Full results are listed below.

- NXT Women’s Championship Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) def. Kiana James.
- After the match, Becky Lynch appeared in the titantron before challenging Stratton to a match for the NXT Women’s Title next week.
- Diamond Mine (Julius Creed, Brutus Creed & Ivy Nile) were backstage reconstructing the Diamond Dojo by inviting the entire tag division. The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) met with The Creeds before Edris Enofe & Malik Blade interrupted and talked trash to The Creeds.
- Ilja Dragunov def. Oro Mensah (w/ Noam Dar, Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson of Meta Four).
- After the match, Wes Lee confronted Dragunov. Lee told Dragunov that he wanted a shot at Hayes back again, but Dragunov said that he would the heads of everyone that came his way. NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes interrupted the two before revealing that Lee & Dragunov would have a one-on-one match next week, with the winner getting a title shot at No Mercy.
- Dominik Mysterio was preparing backstage for his referee duties in the match between Dragon Lee & Mustafa Ali later in the night.
- Nathan Frazer was interviewed backstage, where he stated that despite the loss last week, he would never slow down.
- There was a segment with Thea Hail & Jacy Jayne talking backstage before Gigi Dolin came in. Dolin ran down on Jayne & Hail. Blair Davenport got involved in the argument before Hail stated that she would see Dolin later in the night.
- NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament – Group B Match: Nathan Frazer def. Duke Hudson (w/ Andre Chase).
- The Creed Brothers (Julius & Bruts Creed) spoke with Hank Walker & Tank Ledger before being interrupted by Bronco Nima, Lucien Price & SCRYPTS. Price & Nima told The Creeds that the did not understand their struggles, with SCRYPTS saying that he can relate to that feeling.
- Tyler Bate def. Dabba-Kato.
- Dominik Mysterio met with Carmelo Hayes backstage. He said that Hayes would find out his challenger next week while he would pick his tonight.
- Roxanne Perez & Lyra Valkyria previewed the match between Dragon Lee & Mustafa Ali backstage before Kiana James arrived to the locker room and threw a fit for losing her match against Tiffany Stratton earlier in the night. James & Perez argued before exchanging forearm strikes.
- Baron Corbin was interviewed backstage talking about the No Disqualification Match between Von Wagner & Bron Breakker in the main event. Corbin said that he did not care who won, but he would enjoy seeing the destruction because he may pick up the scraps afterward.
- Kelly Kincaid (formerly known as Quinn McKay in ROH) tried to get an interview with Tiffany Stratton, but Stratton refused.
- NXT North American Championship – #1 Contender’s Match (with Dominik Mysterio as Special Guest Referee): Mustafa Ali vs. Dragon Lee.
- Trick Williams was on the phone before Ilja Dragunov confronted him. Dragunov asked Williams why he was making Hayes about beating Dragunov before telling him that he had a week to think about whether he was lying to Hayes or to himself.
- Drew Gulak was training with Damon Kemp & Charlie Dempsey before confronting Myles Borne. Gulak, Kemp & Dempsey told Borne that he was not ready to compete in NXT, but told him that he better make it count.
- Eddy Thorpe cut a promo backstage, where he stated that he was not done with DIJAK yet.
- NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament – Group A Match: Butch vs. Axiom Ended in a Time-Limit Draw.
- There was a vignette of Von Wagner talking to a random table, saying that life was much more fun with the table.
- Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo confronted The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo), where they promised to take the titles off them. D’Angelo & Stacks talked trash to Garza & Carillo before it turned into a full-on brawl between multiple NXT Teams on the Diamond Dojo.
- Thea Hail (w/ Jacy Jayne) def. Gigi Dolin.
- The ending came when Blair Davenport attacked Dolin with an arm breaker, leading Hail to lock a Kimura Lock on Dolin for the submission win.
- After the brawl on the Diamond Dojo, Ivy Nile asked The Creeds what had happened. The Creeds & Nile hugged backstage.
- Lyra Valkyria spoke with Kelani Jordan backstage but they were interrupted by Dana Brooke. Brooke told Lyra that she would not break their team up, which bamboozled Valkyria. Lyra challenged Brooke to a match next week.
- Tiffany Stratton cut a promo backstage, saying that she was already further in her two-year career than what Lynch was. Stratton promised to retain her belt next week.
- No Disqualification Match: Bron Breakker def. Von Wagner (w/ Mr. Stone).
- Breakker attacked Wagner after the match, with Breakker smashing Wagner’s head with the stairs as the camera cut to black to end the broadcast.
