On August 29, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of NXT on the USA Network.
The show was headlined by A Fatal Four-Way Match to determine the new #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship & Butch making his NXT return against Charlie Dempsey in a match of the NXT Heritage Invitational. Full results are listed below.

WWE NXT (8/29/2023).
- Steel Cage Match – If Creeds Win, They Return to NXT: The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) def. The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler) (w/ Joe Gacy, Ava Raine & The Schism Followers).
- Roxanne Perez cut a promo backstage, where she stated that she was aiming to regain the championship she never lost, stating that she did not care anymore because she wants her gold back now.
- There was a video package promoting the participants of the NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament.
- NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes met with NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo backstage before they were met by Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins). The five talked before the camera cut to Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez brawling with Dana Brooke & Kelani Jordan backstage.
- NXT Global Heritage Invitational – Group A Match: Butch def. Charlie Dempsey (w/ Drew Gulak & Damon Kemp).
- Dragon Lee was interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell, where he made his claim for the NXT North American Championship but he was interrupted by Mustafa Ali. Ali said that Lee had his shot, but now it was Ali’s turn. Lee said that he did not trust Ali.
- Ilja Dragunov cut a promo backstage, where he stated that he had his eyes on the NXT Championship; however, The Meta Four (Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson, Oro Mensah & Noam Dar) interrupted Dragunov and made fun of him trying to get a shot at the title. Mensah said an insult in German, which led to Dragunov asking why they should not join them at the lounge. Dragunov is set to face Oro Mensah next week.
- Von Wagner & Mr. Stone called out Bron Breakker after he attacked Wagner last week. Wagner challenged Breakker to a No Disqualification Match next week.
- Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez def. Dana Brooke & Kelani Jordan.
- Gigi Dolin cut a promo backstage ahead of her match later in the night. Dolin said that she would see Tiffany Stratton next week after winning tonight’s #1 Contender’s Match.
- Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes spoke backstage, with Hayes saying that he needed to prove that he could beat Ilja Dragunov. When Hayes asked Williams if he could beat Dragunov, Williams hesitated before saying that he did not think Hayes could beat Dragunov again.
- DIJAK def. Eddy Thorpe.
- DIJAK hit Thorpe with a belt-assisted jab while the referee before hitting the Spinning Boot Kick for the pinfall win.
- There was a vignette of Kiana James ahead of her involvement in the Fatal Four Way to crown the new #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. She made fun of the competitors before saying that she would do whatever it takes to win.
- Baron Corbin argued with a producer backstage before Bron Breakker confronted him and stated that he promised to put an end to Von Wagner’s fairy tale. Corbin stated that he did not care about Breakker, to which Breakker responded by stating that it was good because if he did he would bring the end of days for Corbin.
- There was a vignette of Angel Garza washing some blood off, revealing that he had a scar on the chest. Humberto Carrillo confronted him in his house before saying that he had the same scar. The two agreed to honor their Grandfather from here on out. They are set to return next week.
- There was a video package honoring the life & career of Windham Rotunda, famously known in WWE as Bray Wyatt. After the video package, Wyatt’s famous rocking chair was seen on the ramp. Fightful sends condolences to Rotunda’s family, friends & fans.
- There was a video package of Blair Davenport, where she stated that she was looking forward to taking down all three of her opponents tonight on the Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match.
- Rhea Ripley & Dominik Mysterio were backstage in a video promo, where he stated that Mustafa Ali & Dragon Lee should fight in a #1 Contender’s match for the NXT North American Championship, but only if he was the special guest referee.
- NXT Global Heritage Invitational – Group B Match: Joe Coffey (w/ Wolfgang & Mark Coffey) def. Nathan Frazer.
- Andre Chase hosted a class to discuss the NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tourney and Duke Hudson’s involvement in the tourney. Thea Hail arrived to class very late, which made Andre Chase cross. Hail said that she had plans to go out, revealing that she had been hanging out with Jacy Jayne.
- Myles Borne was cleaning up the ring before being confronted by Fallon Henley. Henley offered Borne a match with Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs for next week.
- There was a vignette of Wes Lee that he posted on his Instagram. Lee said that he would fight for an opportunity to get a rematch at the NXT Championship, promising to bring the title to the West Side.
- Tyler Bate was interviewed backstage, where he provided some analysis regarding the participants of Group A of the Global Invitational before Dabba-Kato to a match next week (this match was originally scheduled for tonight).
- NXT Women’s Championship – #1 Contender’s Match: Kiana James def. Roxanne Perez, Blair Davenport & Gigi Dolin.
- In the last shot of the episode, NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes was seen walking into Shawn Michaels’s office before the end of the broadcast.
